Wrong Side Hat

This beanie hat is made in stockinette stitch and then reversed so you get the ‘wrong side’ as the right side! Made with our sock yarn for the brim which makes it stretchy due to the elastic content, you can use any DK or 2 strands of 4 ply for the body. We have used pineapple yarn (solid purple) with a strand of our thick and thin wavy organic cotton (white with purple speckles) for added texture.

Finished dimensions – 52cm around but this will stretch due to the sock yarn, 8 inches tall but you can alter this length.

You can find our sock yarn minis here – https://www.veganyarn.co.uk/product-category/yarn-base-material/vegan-sock-yarn-yarn-base-material/vegan-sock-yarn/minis/

However you can use any 2 strands of 4 ply yarn.

You will need –

50g of DK or 4ply yarn

20g of Eco Pleiades Sock Yarn

4mm circular needles or DPNs

A stitch marker

Needles and scissors for finishing

Pattern

Using 2 strands of sock yarn held together cast on 100 stitches. Add the stitch marker at the beginning of the round.

Work 8 rows in 1×1 rib (knit 1 , purl 1)

Now change to the yarn or yarns you are using for the main body. If using 4 ply you will use 2 strands together.

Purl the next row.

Now knit as many rows as you need to make the hat 8 inches long (in total, including the brim). You are knitting the hat inside our at this point.

Please try on the hat before decreasing to make sure it is long enough. The decreases only add 1cm in length.

Decreasing

Now knit 2 together and repeat this until the end of the row – you now have 50 stitches.

Do this row again – you now have 25 stitches.

Now break the yarn and thread it through the remaining stitches, knot and secure your yarn – you now have a finished hat!
