Our Seaweed is grown by the river Hoogli where it is gathered by fishermen and dried by the local villagers. The fibres are then processed and handspun by local Artisans. They are spun in an enviroment with Sari yarn and often pick up little bit of thread because of this. We try to remove as much as we can but will miss bits. They are easily pulled from between the ply when the yarn is not taught.

Seaweed is probably closest to slightly fluffy dishcloth cotton, but we’re happy to send you a sample before you buy.

Seaweed is soft, and great for clothing. However it is not very strong, and becuase of its base colour does not dye brightly.

We offer a thin seaweed which is between a finger and DK weight. It is 290m per 100g and 20 WPI.

We also have 2 thicker seaweed yarns giving 44m per 100g/8 WPI and 51m per 100g / 9 WPI

Seaweed can be machine washed but not tumble dried.
